Designer Wallpaper Biography
In 1959 Broadhurst established Australian (Hand Printed) Wallpapers Pty Ltd., which later became Florence Broadhurst Wallpapers Pty Ltd, advertised as "the only studio of its kind in the world".[1] Her brightly-coloured geometric and nature-inspired oversized designs were all hand printed. Technical advances made in her studio included printing onto metallic surfaces, the development of a washable, vinyl-coating finish and a drying rack system that allowed her wallpapers to be produced in large quantities.[1] By 1972, her wallpapers reportedly contained around 800 designs in eighty different colours,[1] while by the mid-1970s she monopolised the quality end of the Australian market and was exporting worldwide.[3]
Broadhurst's library of wooden silk-printing screens and film positives was sold to Wilson Fabrics and Wallcoverings in 1978, just one year after her death. However, the decline of wallpaper as a popular form of home furnishing in the 1980s saw the collection languish, and it was later re-sold to Signature Prints Pty Ltd. Signature Prints in turn was purchased by a conglomerate led by current CEO David Lennie in 1989. Lennie had previously run a small wallpaper company in Auckland, New Zealand and briefly met Florence Broadhurst before her death.
In the late 1990s, Chee Soon & Fitzgerald, a small but influential Sydney design store, held the wholesale and retail distribution rights for Broadhurst wallpaper. This led to some popularity in Sydney design circles but little media attention. In the early 2000s, Signature Prints made a conscious decision to promote Broadhurst's designs overseas, specifically in the UK. This effort, coupled with an international resurgence of interest in wallpaper, greatly increased the designer's profile and led to distribution deals being struck for both the UK and the US in 2003.
Five-hundred and thirty Broadhurst designs are in the company's collection but only a small proportion are printed by the company as wallpaper and fabric. The company retains strict control over the designs and insists printing take place in its inner-city Sydney factory. Some licences have been granted for other uses, such as high-end fashion pieces by designers Akira Isogawa, Nicky Zimmermann and Karen Walker. In late 2008, Cadrys Handwoven Rugs (based in Sydney, Australia) launched The Florence Broadhurst Rug Collection in Australia & the US featuring 10 designs with many more to follow, featuring Tibetan handspun wool, pure silk and other natural fibres. Their Florence Broadhurst Rug Collection was to be launched in Asia in 2009.[4]

Wallpaper is the enigmatic onstage existence of Oakland music addict Eric Frederic. In another life, he fronts a prog-rock powerhouse (indie stalwarts Facing New York), but in this one, he's a pop-pushing kingpin as interested in art as artifice. The Wallpaper project began in early 2005 as tweaked satire, Frederic funneling his earliest influences (P-Funk, New Jack, East Bay rap) into two EPs of diced, digital beats and lyrics caricaturing the pop vernacular. But as the Hyphy hip-hop movement crested in Frederic's backyard, something changed. "I saw that classic Bay Area sound resurfacing," he says, "that same psychedelic, drippy, care-free, funky approach that reigned from Sly Stone to Digital Underground." He needed to pay tribute, and in a hail of house parties and homemade discs, Wallpaper was reborn as Ricky Reed, Frederic's disco-smashing doppelganger. This glitz 'n' grit champion of the groove has since become a gilded name in the underground, wooing crowds with a computerized croon, live reinventions of R&B classics, and tales of excess in the Information Age. Live, Wallpaper is joined by Arjun Singh on drums. They have blown spots alongside such notables as Subtle, Darondo, LA Riots, Electric Soft Parade, and Nino Moschella.

Mario Balotelli was born Mario Barwuah in Palmero, Italy, to Rose and Thomas Barwuah on August 12, 1990. Thomas, a metal worker originally from Ghana, traveled many hours each weekend for work, and was gone all week long. Rose stayed home with the children, which included Mario and soon three other siblings. Mario was a sick baby who suffered from intestinal problems. The doctors feared that Mario would die several times, and when Mario was two, the family moved to Brescia, Italy. As is often the case, the story has some discrepancies at this point, one thing is clear the family was extremely poor. Thomas insists that they asked social services to help the family and that is how Mario ended up living with Francesco and Silvio Balotelli. Mario on the other hand, believes he was beaten and that is why social services placed him with the family, which already contained two biological boys and a biological daughter. Thomas insists that they visited often during the first two years, but eventually relationships between Thomas and the Balobelli’s became strained. Mario, on the other hand, insists that his parents abandoned him at a hospital. Mario insists that his parents wanted him back only after it became clear that he would become a famous athlete, because of the glory it would bring them. Mario was never officially adopted. However, as soon as possible, on his 18th birthday, Mario became an Italian citizen at Concesio’s city hall.

Mario was discovered by Walter Salvioni at the age of 15, while he was playing with the AC Lumezzane team. Mr. Salvioni, the coach for the senior team, insisted that he had to have the boy, and after discussions with the sport’s leadership, Salvioni was allowed to use Mario on his Serie C side AC Lumezzane team. Mario has been hard to control, throughout his whole career. Walter Salvioni tells that Mario would attend practice, but would not stay for the training afterward. However, he was a very talented player and tried out for FC Barcelona. This tryout did not go well, but in 2007, at the age of seventeen, Mario joined the Internationale, who was coached by Roberto Mancini. Mario continued to be a disciplinary problem, and when Mancini left the team, Mario was soon suspended by the new head cach Jose Mourinho, for failure to show effort during pratices. On the other hand, many of the fans, did not like Mario and would yell racists chants. The problems became so severe that the stadium was partially closed, by the league, in an effort to control the fans. Mario is much feared for his playing ability which includes pace and technical ability, but much hated for his petulant behavior, which often includes throwing his jersey, and stomping on it. The problems between Mourinho and Mario continued, and in August, 2010, Mario left to play for his former coach Roberto Mancini, at Manchester City.

In December 2010 Mario received the Golden Boy Award for being the best European soccer player under 21.
